EVERYONE has been updating their status with "Could we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are shooting stars? I could really use a wish right now." Well, actually, it stopped cause everyone started talking smack about people who do so.. but yeah. ANYWAY.
It's funny how those lyrics ring so true for most of us. Growing up in a society where the second brightest object in the night sky (after the moon) is often an airplane. I bet every single person who lives in SoCal has mistaken an airplane for a star before. Heck, me and Casie even talked about wishing on airplanes before the song got famous. It's interesting how we humans so often look for objects of comfort, even when we know that it won't do a single darned thing in the end.
I also find it funny how the song describes that we're wishing on airplanes instead of stars. That's like describing society in general. We used to rely on nature and the supernatural, but now, we rely on technology so much more. The brightest thing in the night sky is man-made. Sort of scary, isn't it?
